Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania

The Selous Game Reserve is one of the best places for a hunting safari. It is located in the southern part of the country and is the largest hunting concervancy in Tanzania.

The Selous is uninhabited by people and is divided into 46 hunting blocks. The area is noted for its large population of dangerous game, especially buffalo. Leopard and lion are plentiful, as well as crocodile and hippo.

The vegetation is mainly miombo and mopane bush with dense thickets and open plains.

In the Selous one can not only experience the excitement of the Buffalo hunt, but also the adventure of a walking safari in one of the last great wilderness areas in the world. Here is a list of available animals.
Accommodations are luxury East African tented safari camps with full amenities, completely staffed to ensure your comfort.
  • The hunting area is accessible by both vehicle and charter aircraft.
  • The hunting season in Tanzania begins July 1st and ends December 31st.
We provide the services of a professional hunter, cook, gun bearers, skinners, four wheel drive vehicle, sleeping tents, toilet tents, mess and crew tents, refrigerator. We take care of field preservation of trophies and a company representative will help with airport formalities.

Hunting rates


Hunting permits (USD)
  • Hunting permits can be obtained for 7 days, 16 days and 21 days.
  • There is one professional hunter (PH) for one client, one PH for two clients or two PH for two clients.
  • Non-hunting observers (family members, friends) can accompany the hunt.
  • For the different hunting rates, please contact your local representative.

Other fees (USD)
  • Trophy fee
  • Conservation fee : 100 USD per day per hunter
  • Observers fee : 50 USD per day per observer
  • Hunting permit : 600 USD
  • Trophy dip & pack : 900 USD (depending on the trophies)
  • Trophy export fee : 300 USD
  • Rifle import permit : 200 USD per rifle
  • land or aircraft transfer to location

Firearms


A 270 Winchester or similar firearm is recommended for plains game, and for the larger game a minimum of a 375 H&H Magnum.

Hunter wishing to import weapons must supply the following :
  • 4 passport pictures
  • photocopy of passport
  • make of the rifle
  • calibre of the rifle
  • serial number of the rifle
  • 100 rounds of ammunition per rifle
